Ca Mau fertilizer plant nears completion

News - Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper has been told that the US$900 million Ca Mau Nitrogen Fertilizer Plant is now almost complete and expected to start operations by the end of 2012.
According to a report of project owner Petrovietnam, the project has been completed for 97% of construction work.
Construction work of this project started in July 2008 and is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2012.
The plant is located in An Khanh commune, U Minh District, Ca Mau Province on an area of 62 hectares, designed with capacity of 800,000 tons of nitrogen fertilizer per year.
Despite the implementation of new fertilizer projects in recent years, Vietnam still imports fertilizers, of which urea is the most in demand, especially in rice growing regions.
