News/Hai Phong - The construction of the Rao 2 bridge spanning the Lach Tray river commenced in Hai Phong city yesterday.
The bridge links the centre of Hai Phong city with the Do Son Tourist Area and the such coastal districts as Duong Kinh, Kien Thuy.
The bridge has a total investment of VND 661 billion of which EUR 24.45 million (equivalent to VND 600 billion) comes from the Finland Government’s ODA and VND 61 billion from the Vietnamese Government’s counterpart capital.
The cable-stayed bridge, 248 metres in length and 25.5 metres in width, has four motorised lanes and two rudimentary vehicles lanes.
It is built by the Danish contractor MT Hojgaard and expected to be completed after 21 months of construction.
This is the work of important significance in the city’s socio-economic strategy, overcoming the overload of the existing bridge.
