News/Ha Tinh - Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 4, PECC4 or TV4, an affiliate of the state-owned Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN), will build the 2,400-MW Vung Ang 3 thermal power center in the central province of Ha Tinh.
The center will comprise two power plants with capacity of 1,200 MW each, the Thanh nien newspaper reported Thursday without mentioning the project’s investment and start-up.
The facility will be built in the Vung Ang Economic Zone, which is 700 kilometers far from the National Highway No. 1A and nearly 7km from Vung Ang deep-water port.
Vietnam aims to lean to thermal power generation sources after 2010 and raise total capacity of thermal power plants to 15,497 MW by 2011; 27,261-27,811 MW by 2015; 36,721-40,111 MW by 2020; and 52,871-65,111 MW by 2025.
