Hanoi to kick off construction on 47 key projects in 2012
News - As planned, in 2012, Hanoi will start construction on 47 key projects and strive to fully complete 33 projects, according to director of Hanoi Department of Transport, Nguyen Quoc Hung, on December 30.

To find funds for transportation projects of the capital city, together with the city budget, the Hanoi Department of Transport will try to mobilize other capital sources.

Accordingly, the Department will continue to accelerate the progress of key transportation projects to quickly improve transport infrastructure network capacity, help reduce traffic congestion, of which the important objective is to soon complete the ring road 2, partly the ring road 3, expand the remaining sections of the main axes such as National Highway 1A, Highway 6, Highway 32, Highway 3 to quickly respond traffic demand from internal urban areas to the outskirts areas and vice versa as well as separate transit traffic flows that are not allowed to pass through the inner city area.

To support the main axes that are now overloaded, the department will focus on expanding as planned and definite completion of all major urban areas and the unfinished roads such as Van Cao-West Lake, Cat Linh-La Thanh-Thai Ha-Lang and Ngo Gia Tu.

In addition, the department will also build some important bridges and repair weak bridges to ensure traffic safety and convenient and efficient transportation connections with the current transportation network and continue to build overhead bridges for walking.

In 2011, the Department has implemented the basic construction and completed 16 projects, completed and repaired investment and approved projects and prepared for the commencement of construction for 47 projects. Currently, 28 projects are under construction.
