HCM City to buy Israeli dairy tech
News - HCMC will use its own budget to buy Israel’s technology for crossbreeding high-yielding dairy cows.

The city currently has around 80,000 dairy cows and is planning to invest in new cow breeds to supply neighboring provinces such as Binh Duong and Binh Phuoc, said HCMC vice chairman Le Minh Tri in a meeting with Israeli ambassador Amnon Efrat on Monday.

“To achieve this, the city is willing to set aside a large amount of money to buy the crossbreed technology from Israel,” Tri said.

A pilot dairy farm will go into operation in late February or early March with 100 cows, and will have 180 cows a year later, according to Nguyen Phuoc Trung, deputy director of the city’s department of agriculture.

All cows at this farm will have a chip implanted and be raised using technology of Israel. After the farm becomes operational, Israel will send its experts to instruct and train farmers in the city.

Israel also expects the farm to become a training center for dairy farming for regional countries.

Besides, Israel will help the city develop the agriculture sector by financially supporting Vietnamese students studying agriculture in Israel.

The dairy farm is invested by the HCMC Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Israel’s Center for International Cooperation, and the project is now 90% complete.
