Ho Chi Minh city need 10,000 billion dongs for flood prevention

Laws- 4th session of Steering
Committee Meeting of project on flood prevention for Ho Chi Minh City which was
chaired by Mr. Dao Xuan Hoc, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural
Development
took place on 18 November
2009 in Ho Chi Minh City.

his session was to
evaluate situation on implementation of work under decision No. 1547/QD-TTg on
28 October 008 of the Prime Minister; review contents proposed to implement in
the 3rd
session of Steering Committee meeting on 18 August 2009; and
propose solutions to accelerate progress of project implementation to ensure
that the 1st
stage can be completed in 2012.
Speaking at the session, representatives from project investors affirmed that
capital is a decisive factor to speed up project progress, therefore, Ministry
of Agriculture and Rural Development and relevant agencies need to balance and
allocate additional fund to project to implement it as scheduled.
Regarding this matter, Mr. Dao Xuan Hoc, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and
Rural Development said, apart from state budget fund, functional agencies and
project investors can propose and establish other funding mechanism to speed up
project progress.
It was expected that investment capital in 1st stage of the project
was more than 10.000 billion dongs for construction of 12 tide prevention
culvert including Muong Chuoi, Thu Bo, Kinh Lo, tide control culvert Nhieu Loc-
Thi Nghe, Kinh river tide prevention culvert…
Sai Gon river dyke system and 9 main axes of drainage in Ho Chi Minh City and
Long An, in which Management Unit of Irrigation investment and construction
No.9 (Unit No. 9), Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is the project
investor of 03 large culverts./.
