News - The Japanese Government has decided to provide US$120 million for a project in Vinh Phuc province to help the northern province improve its investment climate.
The ODA funding, channeled through the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), will help build a key road in the heart of a new city in Me Linh district and expand water supply, sewage and liquid waste treatment systems in Vinh Yen city.
The project will also finance upgrading a power grid network in Phuc Yen township and improving the province’s capacity for managing and attracting investments along with providing support services for investors.
The provincial administration has so far met the deadlines for ground clearance and its commitments to financial contributions, which thus ensures the construction of several sub-projects such as water utilities will begin on schedule in 2011.
Once the work is completed, Son Dong village, Lap Thach district, and Viet Xuan village, Phuc Yen district, will have safe water for tens of thousands of local families in eight villages in several districts in the province.
