PM agrees changes of first-phase HCM City-Trung Luong Highway project

UB.Laws/Hanoi - The Prime Minister has agreed in principle the adjustment of the first-phase HCM City-Trung Luong Highway project following suggestion of the relevant ministries.
The PM assigned the Ministry of Communications and Transport to evaluate changes on design, scale, volume of work and the total investment of the project and approve the investment capital for the first phase that does not exceed VND9.888 trillion.
The Ministry of Finance will compile the plan of selling the highway’s toll right in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Transport and the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam.
The Ministry of Finance will advance the approved initial investment capital of VND6.555 trillion and cooperate with the Ministry of Planning and Investment to find the increased capital for the project.
The authorities of HCM City, Long An and Tien Giang provinces will be in charge of site clearance, compensation and resettlement for affected households and agencies to ensure the construction phase of the highway.
The 61.9-kilometer long, 8-lane highway will link HCM City and Trung Luong area in the southern Tien Giang Province and is part of the HCM City-Can Tho Highway. Work on the project began in 2004 and is expected to complete in 2008.
