Quảng Ninh prioritizes hi-tech investment

News - The northern province of Quảng Ninh is focusing on calling for investment in hi-tech and environmentally friendly projects in the 2012-2020 period.
The province will establish hi-tech incubators and hi-tech zones, including those designated for bio-technology, information technology and automation, as well as develop supporting industry zones, and processing industry and agriculture-serving industries.
Quảng Ninh has set targets of posting economic growth of some 14.2% a year in the 2011-2020 period, and GDP per capita of over US $3,000 in 2020. It is set to become an industrial province by 2015.
The province’s industrial production value was over VND 30 trillion in 2011, nearly doubling that 5 years ago. The foreign-invested sector contributed over VND 4.6 trillion last year. The province’s spearheaded industries are coal mining, thermoelectricity and cement production.
