UB.News/Phnom Penh - Viet Nam will together with Bhutan, Indonesia and Nepal be beneficial to human resource training projects of the United Nations.
A decision relating to the UN projects was made at a high-level regional conference on trade-related capacity development in selected East-Asian countries held by the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTD) in Phnom Penh on February 5-7.
At the event, the Vietnamese mission presented the country’s trade policies and its wish to get UN help in training human resources to strengthen the country’s trade competitiveness for early global integration.
The three-day conference drew delegations from Bhutan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Nepal and Viet Nam, and donors, including the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and France.
The conference discussed issues related to strengthening local capacities and training methodologies in the areas of trade and development.
It also reviewed UNCTAD’s training for trade programme for Cambodia and Laos carried out from 2003, and drew lesions for similar projects in Bhutan, Indonesia, Nepal and Viet Nam.
