Vietnam-Singapore Business Forum 2011: An effective channel promoting business
News - Vietnam-Singapore Forum 2011 will take place from November 30 th to December 2 nd 2011, at Hotel Crowne Plaza West Hanoi. This event is jointly organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vietnam (VCCI), the Trade Union of Singapore, Singapore Department for International Enterprise, and the Singapore International Women’ Federation of Commerce and Industry.

With the participation of about 300 delegates from both Vietnam and Singapore, of which more than 100 represent companies from Singapore, this is one of the biggest trade and direct investment promotion events between the two countries in recent times.

The event is taking place in the context that Vietnam is conducting a comprehensive restructuring of the economy, particularly after the visit of the State President Truong Tan Sang to Singapore in September 2011, both countries agreed to increase bilateral relations..

In terms of specific cooperation, both sides expressed satisfaction on the effective implementation of the agreement on connecting Vietnam - Singapore on six cooperation areas as well as the success of the industrial zones of Vietnam - Singapore (VSIP) in Vietnam. This has attracted more interest from Singaporean investors and businesses in Vietnam.

VCCI Chairman Vu Tien Loc said that the Vietnam-Singapore Business Forum 2011 is significant in contributing to the relationship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore, providing solid connectivity platforms for their businesses, and updating the investment opportunities in Vietnam and Singapore.


Mr. Bobby Liu, Chairman of Singapore Business Association in Vietnam said: "Vietnam is a rapidly growing economy that has created greater opportunities for Singapore businesses. Believing in long-term economic prospects of Vietnam, many Singapore companies have invested in the 3 regions of Vietnam and in many different fields. The forum once again confirms the interest of the two leaders, researchers and also in the interest of cooperation, specific investments of enterprises in the two countries, particularly in the areas of finance and banking, education, real estate and logistics.

In the first day of the forum, leaders of the ministries, the economic experts and Vietnam and Singapore entrepreneurs will update the macroeconomic situation and investment environment in Vietnam, talk about important topics for economic cooperation, and also point out the opportunities and challenges of doing business in Singapore and Vietnam.

The second day of the Forum will focus on intensive discussion of 4 key topics, Finance and Banking, Real Estate, Higher Education and Logistics. The participants discussing these 4 topics will speak separately in different rooms to provide an opportunity to meet and direct business connections. The necessary information concerning the current status, trends, and needs of each field will be analyzed and discussed to find a way for specific deployment and cooperation.

During the third day, the participants will have the opportunity to explore real investment opportunities in Bac Ninh (30kilometres from Hanoi capital), that is considered a convenient investment and it’s also an example of investment opportunities in provincial Vietnam..Here, the Singapore and Vietnam investors will listen to presentations by provincial leaders about the potential and investment opportunities in their locality, as well as participate in live discussions.

The delegates will be visiting several successful models in the development of industrial zones, urban infrastructure and housing in the Kinh Bac Urban Development Corporation, Que Vo Industrial Park, and some other industrial zones introduced by local authorities.

In the framework of the forum, there will be an exhibition from the enterprises on their achievements, products and services. Participants will have the opportunity to learn and explore more deeply the cooperation opportunities available to enterprises from both sides.

Through the Forum, these enterprises also have the opportunity to contact and communicate with the officials from the ministries and agencies of the two countries, to establish new relationships with potential partners and have access to capital and search for new business opportunities in Singapore and Vietnam.

Affirming the importance of the forum, Dr. Doan Duy Khuong, VCCI Vice Chairman, Co-Chairman of Business Advisory Council (ASEAN BAC) emphasized that the ASEAN countries are working towards forming ASEAN economic community by 2015, connecting of the two economies of Vietnam and Singapore will contribute to more balanced interests between both countries in the cooperation process, and also to further promote cooperation connecting the two countries in various fields.
