Vietnam Central City Seeks US$6B for Metro Routes

News - Vietnam’s central city of Danang is seeking
US$6 billion to build four metro routes, Nguyen Ba Thanh chairman of the
municipal People’s Council said on its website.
Danang selected the Japan International Cooperation
Agency (JICA) to provide feasible study for the project, Thanh noted, adding
that four metro routes will have a total length of 90 kilometers.
Among these routes, Danang will prioritize
construction of Trung Vuong theatre-Dien Bien Phu-Hue intersection route whose
construction is slated to start in the first quarter of next year, he
highlighted.
JICA has funded for many projects in Vietnam, including
East-West Corridor and Water Environment Improvement projects in Ho Chi Minh
City.
At the Consultative Group Meeting in Hanoi on last
Dec, Japan pledged to provide US$1.64 billion in ODA for Vietnam this year, topping
the bilateral donors.
