Vietnam PM: Baria Vungtau to be the international leading sea-ports in the region

ME/Vũng Tàu - July 11, 2011, Baria Vungtau leaders of Secretariat office, the People's Council and the People's Committee have received Vietnam prime minister Nguyen Tan Dung's visit, on the occasion of 30 years anniversary of VietsovPetro Joint Venture establishment.
Representatives to welcome the prime minister included Mr. Nguyen Tuan Minh, Chief Secretariat of the Party; Mr. Phan Quang Khai, permanent vice Chief Secretariat, Mr. Tran Minh Sanh, vice chief Secretariat cum the chairman of People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Hong Linh, vice chief Secretariat cum the chairman of People's Council and other vice chairmen and directors of Departments.
On behalf of Baria Vungtau leaders, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Minh reported to the Prime Minister about the social and economic achievements: GDP growth of about 11.7% vs last year; industrial production grows 14.03%; retails consumption grows 21.86%; export value except oil and gas grows 30.77%; agriculture production increases 4.28%. Total investment is about 15,180 billion Vietnam Dong, increases 10.51% vs last year ...
On behalf of the Government, the Prime Minister highly appreciate the efforts of Baria Vungtau's strong management.
At the working session, the Prime Minister emphasized that the people and leaders of Baria Vungtau should utilize all advantages of the provinces, the advantages far higher than other province to make the province more industrialized. The development of Baria Vungtau contributes greatly to the whole economic Southern region. The key advantages are deep water port system of Cai Mep Thi Vai. This international port complex contributes to the growth of Vietnam economy. The Prime minister pointed out. The urgency to complete national road 51 expansion and the Inter-port link road system, to avoid traffic congestion like now.
At the working session, leaders of Baria Vungtau proposed to the Prime Minister to request relevant ministries to speed up the progress of Inter-port link roads; and suggested that Phuoc An bridge to be in the priority list of ODA project and suggested that the Government allow 115 billion Vietnam dong more for land compensation of Song Ray water supply lake.
The Prime Minister accepted the above both proposal and suggestion and have instructed Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to prepare cash advance for Song Ray water supply project.
