Vietnam seeks Japanese financial, tech aid for bullet train project

News - The Vietnamese government has asked the Japanese government to provide financial and technological aid to enable Hanoi to build a 1,570-kilometer high-speed railway system despite its rejection by parliament earlier this year, a Vietnamese state-run railway company official said Monday.

Although the Vietnamese parliament in June voted down the government proposal to build the tracks linking its northern and southern regions due to concerns over costs and other factors, the government has decided to implement a feasibility study for the project, the official said.
