News - Vinamit Trading Corporation on Friday broke ground for a fruit processing factory in the northern city of Hai Duong to tap the northern market, having operated three plants in southern and central provinces.
Nguyen Lam Vien, general director of Vinamit, said the corporation would set aside some VND285 billion to develop a processing factory with three product lines, a cold storage facility and a research and nursery farm.
Those facilities cover 38 hectares in the city, some 57 kilometers from Hanoi.
Vien said the expansion was part of the corporation’s development plan to expand business beyond the southern market as its stronghold.
The new factory will facilitate purchasing of agriculture products, as well as capitalize on convenient transport in the region.
Vien said the facilities are a base to provide products to the Hanoi market and its neighboring provinces and to export its dried fruit products to China, which accounts for the biggest proportion of revenue of the corporation.
In addition, the facilities, when in place by 2013, will offer 300 jobs for local people.
The new factory will be the fourth production facility by Vinamit after factories in Binh Duong, Kien Giang, and Daklak.
Established in 1991, Vinamit is active in processing and exporting agricultural products, especially dried fruit products to markets such as Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, the U.S. and China.
