2,400 MW thermal power plant to be built in Nam Dinh
News/Nam Dinh – Deputy Prime Minister had agreed in principal for Joint Venture between Hoang Anh Shipbuilding Industry J/S Company (Hashinco) and Taekwang Vina Industrial J/S Company of Korea (investor) to develop Nam Dinh Thermal Power Plant with capacity of 2,400 MW with investment capital of 4.5 billion VND.

Deputy Prime Minister also requested Ministry of Trade and Industry to chair the signing of Memorandum of Understanding and to co-operate with concerned agencies, Nam Dinh People’s Committee to negotiate contract with the investor as per regulation.
Nam Dinh Thermal Power Plant is expected to occupy 251 ha in Hai Chau Commune, Hai Hau District. And it is expected to divide into 2 phases. In the first phase, the Joint Venture will begin to construct the thermal power plant with capacity of 1200 MW in 2010 and complete in 2017; the second phase will be completed in 2021 with capacity of 1200 MW.

Input material for operating the thermal power plant is coal from Quang Ninh which is supplied by Vietnam National Coal – Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin).
Joint Venture between Hashinco and Taekwang Vina will implement the project under the form of   BOT (Build – Operate – Transfer) in 25 years, in which Taekwang Vina contributes 95% capital. Besides that, investment capital will be disbursed by 2 phases, 1st phase is of 25% and 2nd phase is   75%.
