Cai Mep Container Terminal Project, Baria Vungtau Prov

News/Hà Nội - August 21, 2008 in Nikko Hotel Hanoi, Project Management Unit No 85 (PMU-85) under Ministry of Transportation and JPC-NK Joint Consultant and the contractors Toa Corporation and Penta-Ocean Construction Co., Ltd signed the contracts for building container terminals of Cai Mep Thi Vai in Baria Vungtau province.

The two projects of 48ha Cai Mep Container Terminal, berth length 600m, able to receive container vessel up to 80,000DWT and annual capacity 600,000~700,000TEU; and 27ha Thi Vai general cargo Terminal, berth length 600m, able to receive cargo vessel up to 75,000DWT, able to handle 2m tons of cargoes annually are the most expecting projects in Port Complex Group V in South of Vietnam. The projects are funded by Japan Bank for International Cooperation under the form of ODA.

PMU-85 have signed the contracts with Toa Corporation-Toyo Joint Venture for Cai Mep Terminal and with Penta-Ocean-Rinkai Co Joint Venture for Thi Vai Terminal. Toa Corporation and Penta-Ocean are the two leading port construction firms of Japan. The two companies have built Cai Lan Port complex, Hai Phong Port complex in the North of Vietnam.

Representatives from Ministry of Transport are Deputy Minister Ngô Thịnh Đức, General Director of PMU-85 Sir Nguyễn Ngọc Trân, from Toa Corporation Overseas Division CEO Mr. Osamu Nakagome, from Penta-Ocean Construction Co., Ltd CEO Mr. Yasuzi Kakimoto.
